The modern workplace is constantly evolving, and as we step into 2025, office design is no longer just about aesthetics. It’s about creating spaces that foster productivity, collaboration, and employee well-being, while aligning with sustainable practices and the unique cultural needs of businesses in the Philippines

Whether you’re planning to move to your new office or renovate your workspace next year, Corebilt’s Design Team presents some of the office design trends you may consider.

Sustainability and Green Design

Sustainability and Green Design is vital for office interior fit-outs in the Philippines, where environmental preservation, climate change mitigation, employee well-being, mental health, and work-life balance are primary concerns,” Corebilt Design Head Architect David Papa noted. “Utilization of natural lighting and renewable energy sources, such as solar panels, enhances sustainability.”

David emphasized that this trend has continuously been shaping how offices and workplaces are designed in the country, coming from the renewed appreciation for uplifting employee morale, well-being and commitment to the environment. “Incorporation of locally sourced natural materials promotes wellness and creates an ecofriendly environment, indoor gardens to boost enthusiasm, confidence, and productivity.”

Collaborative Workplace

Maximizing connections built in the office also means providing spaces that can encourage spontaneous brainstorming sessions, informal conversations, and inter-team collaborations.

“The concept of collaborative workplace is highly relevant as business in Philippines encourages innovation, teamwork, and employee involvement,” David said. Office designs and lay-out should primarily give focus to the Filipino’s love for collaboration and teamwork.

The importance of family and community for Filipino culture enhances communications and job satisfaction. Task based zones, casual lounges for social interaction, video conferencing rooms, and semi-private areas equipped with sound proofing materials contribute to improve office functionality,” he added.

Hybrid-friendly Layouts

Businesses in the Philippines are now adopting hybrid work schedules to balance in-office and remote work. As work flexibility becomes dominant in the country after the pandemic, offices now develop spaces that will minimize the disruption and aid in a more seamless work environment–on-site and off-site.

This approach enhances productivity by reducing exhaustion caused by heavy traffic congestion in major cities.  Flexible workplaces, such as hot-desking, advanced IT capabilities and smart technology, multifunctional rooms, collaboration zones, and quiet zones, contribute to employee well-being and foster a positive office culture,” he noted.

The Rise of “Resimercial”

To further support the flexibility of hybrid workspaces, combining the comfort of home with the functionality of a workspace would be one of the trends in 2025. “Blending “residential” and “commercial” styles foster a warm and inviting atmosphere that enhances employee well-being and productivity,” David said.

According to Corebilt’s Design lead, the concept of “Resimercial” can be achieved by incorporating “comfortable seating, cozy rugs, communal areas, indoor gardens, and inviting collaboration spaces that promote creativity and comfort.”

This blend of residential and commercial design helps create a welcoming environment that employees love to work in,” he added.
